Comment Rules

Comment threads on the MeskelMedia Web site are, generally speaking, not moderated. We will delete comments and suspend users that consistently fail to maintain the basic rules below.

Your use of MeskelMedia’s comment system is bound by our privacy policy, and by the following rules:

1) Read and post at your own risk.
You are guaranteed to encounter people who differ in their opinions, and a few who aren’t very tactful in how they express themselves. Such is life. Do not read or participate in comment threads if you do not wish to deal with such people.

2) Treat others with respect.
You may not agree with another person’s opinions, but you must respect that they have as much right to hold them and to post them as you do. Be tactful and respectful in your disagreements.

3) SPAM.
This includes advertisements; posting the same comment more than once; “scrolling” or posting junk meant to disrupt the flow of conversation; or links to your Web site without participating constructively in the conversation. Spam is grounds for immediate suspension.

4) Anonymous Posting
We ask that you post under a consistent name (or handle). The system will allow you to post anonymously, but we reserve the right to moderate or delete anonymous posts if we think you are attempting to cause problems or insult people without disclosing your identity. Your e-mail address is never shared, and it is not hard to come up with a simple nickname — so using “Anonymous” really should never be necessary.

Remember, your right to post is at MeskelMedia’s discretion. We reserve the right to moderate or delete any comment or user at any time.

If you believe another user has violated these rules, you may e-mail

admin@MeskelMedia.com to report it. Include the exact URL address of the news story, the user’s name, and the full text of the offending post. Moderation will occur at the discretion of MeskelMedia.

‘Why are my posts not showing up?’
NOTE: MeskelMedia’s comment system is hosted by a third party, The system has a spam filter in place that sometimes catches posts that aren’t spam. Unfortunately this is beyond our control, and we don’t have the ability to rescue them.

Posts are only deleted by the admin if they violate the rules above. If you believe your post didn’t break the rules and it isn’t showing up, we recommend that you always copy posts to your clipboard, modify it a little, and try again.
